2006 saw the founding of a new cork based artist collaboration called SKART with fellow artist Kevn Tuohy and myself. This group was aimed to make our names as organisers for art events anonymously, take the who knows know idea out of it to purely leave it about the art. Though saying this on my site will be a self-promotion I’ll have to change the name to keep it new.

Our first project for Arttrail ‘06 saw us select a few artists we knew for the start to show art in 3 vincents Ave, which was a very small house in the Shandon area of Cork. The brief that was giving t the artists was to make something that fits in to the surroundings and not stand out as obviously being Art, and the concept being that we wanted to take the elitist feel that gallery sometimes portray and leaving the place open to people to have a cup of tea or coffee and chill out on the couch. To basically make your self at home to view art that isn’t as obvious to question the idea of what is art, and talk or not about things in general, the weather, gossip, normalizing art (dare I say). It work extremely well and we got over 80 visitors in three days and two college tours a day after the event happened.

The next was from a discussion of the aggressive postering camp-pain a certain venue (who shall remain nameless for legal reasons). Would people be interested in poster that don’t advertise anything, that isn’t selling you stuff… Why hasn’t artists use the poster as medium to show their art, as its cheap way to get your images seen. Then it wasn’t stop at the idea of doing it just in cork but in other places, through people we know, who live in other countries. We wanted to keep it as possible and view not who the artist were but select image that work together well. So the project POSTED 1 was born – though the idea of using a theme for the open-call was mentioned I was going with the idea that artist would take this call as an open submission for us the idea to submit interesting work… We eventually got the twelve location in different locations. Over 80 artists submitted for this project, with over 187 images to select from.

Yellow Box Music Centre wanted a bigger set of posters for the POSTED 1 to coincide with the launch of the Yallow Box Art & Muisic Centre. Inside of doing that we decided to make a specific POSTED 2 for that launch. For that project we selected eight artists to take a photo of their artspace/studio (where you make art space) and a image of their art. To inspect the idea of how one influnences the other in the process of making art.

Art Trail’07 was the time for POSTED 3 which we selected with the help of Mick O’Shea. The basic concept for this project was on the future and what different artists thought described the future through there visual explanations and text pieces, again this project just had the images alone and we displayed the work on hoarding on North Main St. Cork, were much more of the public would get to see it face to face and am interested to see how many actually noticed these posters that didn’t advertise anything.  We ended up sending these images off to Berlin as well.

The following year we began as we meant to continue wholey encanted by
